I'm so sorry to hear that you've been ill -- your poor parents! -- but maybe it's not so bad to have to slow down? Reframe your expectations? Re-calibrate your perspective?
Your daily illustrations are wonderful! I'm curious, though: how large are these? How long does it take you to fill this space? Even a simple zentangle might take me an entire day (or two!), so your commitment to this daily work of art is mighty inspiring!
Hope you are feeling completely yourself, and completely healthy, very soon.
You're 100% right. I'm taking the run-in with covid as a sign to re-calibrate, re-set, re-LAX. At first, I felt like I was mourning the loss of vacation plans, but now I'm remembering to embrace the beauty of this trip. The fact that I can keep on going and am here in Spain!! Eating lots of fresh fish (though no paella yet up north).
As far as my illustrations go, they're about 5.5 x 8.5! Some days, I sit there and draw for 20 minutes. Other days, I'm in and out in 5. Hope you are enjoying the final days of summer xx
I'm sorry that you've been sick and hope you're all feeling better now. I turned 59 this August, and I admit to dreading travel of all kinds at this point. I don't know when this happened, but it might have been in October of 2019 when I returned to Los Angeles from a week spent visiting a friend in London and then my son who was studying in Florence. The trip back in coach was horrific -- honestly, I swore to never do so again.
I’m very much there with you in the Covid swamp right now. I had a similar debate -- publish what I had planned today (which felt fake). Or take the extra time to rest because that’s what my body needs and that’s what matters (yes).
Things I’m telling myself: this is a marathon, not a sprint. Just because it’s not a tidily packaged story right now doesn’t mean it’s not an important part of your story. And I love the work in progress sketches, particularly the oyster confrontation! 🦪 🦪 🦪
a really good reminder. processing is part of the story! I hope you're feeling a ton better! I'm feeling a lot a lot a lot better physically/mentally/spiritually. BUT I am going to be reading "When Things Fall Apart" soon - we should bookclub it afterwards. :)
Sending love and thanks for sharing the bad with the good. So very sorry to hear this. Covid-19 has really impacted travel, family gatherings and celebrations . It feels so hard to plan any more. .
thank you so much <3 It really is hard to plan, but I am approaching it as.. y'know what? the universe laughs at plans so we need to take what it thrown at us and keep on moving forward!

YES! as you so clearly stated...
you will get through this.
You will grow from this.
You will learn something from this.
So, keep going, keep growing, keep on keeping on.
Most of all, keep on writing + keep on visualizing what keeps coming at you.
gracias for the reminder, push, and support <3
