This was such a lovely read ❤️ the portraits are incredible, too -- as an inspiring illustrator // essayist, what do you use to overlay text on the images? They look fantastic!

Lovely, touching, funny piece. The photos made me smile (the one with the picture frame made me laugh out pound - I can hear her saying it). The joy you bring is definitely channeling your abuela’s spirit

So honored to have met her this summer, even though she very much wanted me to take my loud taking outside so she could eat in peace. But watching her dance, reading your words and seeing these pictures of her are such a lesson to us all. Thank you, as always, for using your gift to capture her spirit. I love you and I love you.

I loved reading about your abuela! What a lovely memorial. My condolences for your loss. Filipino grandmothers have filthy mouths too! My grandmother smoked a cigar (she grew the tobacco and rolled them herself) and drank a cervesa every night and lived to be 98!

Loved reading all of your abuelita's idioms! Definitely some that I've heard my abuela say as well. My abuela has early stages of dementia (she's at the forgetting what she's already said stage). You've definitely inspired me capture some of her essence thru photo + video💗✨.
