I loved this so much! Few people capture the courtship that is friendship so well as you have. It reminds me of the many amazing friendships in my life because I dared to take a chance and say yes. Even with the butterflies in the gut.
A wonderful story! Remember: According to my wife one only needs to know 5 phrases when traveling in Italy: "Buongiorno", "Buona notte", "Grazie", "Mi scusi" & her most often used phrase no matter what the circumstance, "Un piacere conoscerti." Bus drivers were amused by that one.
Of course, she left it to me with the duty of the real translating. But still, good times! Glad you found the perfect travel companion.

Ah - can I just say how much I LOVED this? As an adult (especially, I think so many people don't meet IRL anymore) it can be so difficult, awkward and anxiety-inducing to meet someone new and want to be friends. I've literally met people and after having a lovely time awkwardly said...I know this sounds silly but do you want to be friends? :D Platonic chemistry is so underrated.
